    Wood. are currently recruiting for a HSSEA Advisor. 


    This is a permanent staff position based in Central London covering various substaion projects as part of the UKPN ED1SON Alliance.


    Ideally you will have experience in the Transmission and Distribution and Power Industries (Civils) in addition to extensive HSSEA experience.




    Provides support, assurance and expert advice on all matters relating to Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Assurance (HSSEA) in order for the project to achieve its objectives and performance targets and maintain a safe working environment.


    Promote an enthusiastic HSSE culture that delivers positive commitment to, and engages all employees in, continuous performance improvement.



    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide assistance and advice to the Project Manager (and team) with responsibility for HSSEA.
    • Provide positive leadership for the project on HSSEA issues and promote the adoption of HSSEA best practice.
    • Promote an enthusiastic HSSEA culture that delivers positive commitment to, and engages all employees in, continuous performance improvement. Support the Beyond Zero ethos of Wood.
    • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the HSSEA management system and progress against the Wood HSSEA Performance Standards, making recommendations for improvement where appropriate.
    • Contribute towards developing annual HSSEA objectives for the project. Monitor and report on the implementation and effectiveness.
    • Assist with the identification of HSSEA training needs and monitor delivery and recording.
    • Monitor and report on the implementation of the approved HSSEA objectives and produce HSSEA performance reports as required.
    • Promptly alert line and functional management to significant accidents and incidents.  Where appropriate be involved in the investigation and ensure that the findings are reported and appropriately shared.
    • Review accident and incident reports; identify any trends and ensure that there is appropriate response to prevent future occurrence.
    • Planning, coordination and delivery of internal audits for the project. Including the close out of assurance actions in a timely manner ensuring that findings are reported and shared appropriately and opportunities for improvement sought.
    • Complete duties as part of the Emergency Response organisation.
    • Maintain compliance with HSSEA legislative requirements and provide updates to the project as required.
    • Writing of technical documents such as procedures, management documents, investigation reports and audits.
    • Contribute towards the development of bids and provide specialist HSSEA input where required.
    • Complete cross site visits to provide support, coaching, collaboration and to promote best practice.
    • Provide support to Function and/or other projects as necessary and provide cover for other HSSEA personnel where required.

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Demonstrable and relevant experience in a HSSEA Advisor role within the T&D or Power industries.
    • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
    • Member of IOSH
    • Auditor training
    • Incident Investigation training
    • IOSH Managing Environmental Responsibilities (or similar)
    • Presentation skills
    • Technical writing skills
    • HSSEA coaching and training delivery skills
