  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently seeking to recruit a competent Specialist Construction Engineer DCS to work as a Specialist Construction Engineer on the PMC for all phases of the project.

     

    • Involve with the client from construction phase to check various field and package instruments and panel related installations including fiber optic cabling.
    •  Experienced Construction to testing of Enterprise integrated communication systems like CCTV/PAGA/Intrusion detection /LAN/WAN etc. Good knowledge in IEC, DEP, Safety procedures, Profibus,  Foundation Field bus, Modbus and Ethernet Communication Protocols
    •  CCR, Field auxiliary room (FAR) Panel installations and DCS/ESD/F&G Loop checking, simulation, logic check, function tests as per procedure Experience installations, Integration and testing of PLC /DCS/MMS/Third Party Systems like Tank Gauging and custody transfer Installations.
    •  Familiar with construction & execution drawings documents such as P&IDs, PFDs, Cable route layout, Instrument location plans, JB wiring diagrams, Hook Up drawings, Loop Diagrams, cause and effect diagrams Method statements, ITPS, QC plans etc.
    •  Configuration of new I/O s with Honeywell DCS, F&G and ESD Systems
    •  Progress monitoring and reporting of E&I   scope of work /DCS/PLC Systems installations
    • Coordinate all work related to DCS and associated interfaces
    • Assist Client in establishing an effective SPI environment and ensure that the PMC Contractor SPI database complies with Client requirements
    • Ensure Instrument & Control design and engineering compliance with relevant codes, standards, Project Specifications and Company standards
    • Provide internal training of Instrument & Control engineering personnel in SPI (InTools) related activities on a periodic basis and provide recommendations to Sr. Instrument Engineer I&C Team Leader / Engineering Manager and other affected parties on how to improve SPI activities / practices
    • Work as the focal point for coordinating / resolving issues related to EPC field instruments and SPI - working with all necessary parties (Client personnel, Third Party Certification Agencies, PMC Contractor and subcontractors, etc.) and maintaining effective, professional and cordial relationships with all parties concerned to ensure that the set time schedules are met
    • Assist with and coordinate Field instrument design activities and SPI InTools related activities with the PMC Contractor and its subcontractors according to Client and the project engineering execution strategies, specifications and procedures
    • Perform required Engineering activities in close coordination with IPMT I&C, Telecom, SPI Administrator and other Discipline Engineers, PMC CONTRACTOR, subcontractors, Client personnel and Client Drawing Office in accordance with project specifications, procedures, standards and project goals
    • Review and provide comments on Instrument & Control engineering database and document deliverables prepared by the PMC Contractor and sub-contractors as applicable and as required
    • Interact effectively with the PMC Contractor, subcontractors and the project interface personnel to help resolve any interface issues to ensure project requirements are met in a timely manner
    • Assist in the management of design change to ensure that engineering changes are minimized and any necessary modifications are completed safely, effectively and efficiently and are properly documented
    • Communicate regularly with Client Operations and HSE Departments to ensure that the engineering design is acceptable to all user departments
    • Participate in discussions / agreements between Contractor, Client Operation / Site team and other parties
    • Highlight any critical issues to the Sr. Instrument Engineer in a timely manner
    • Participate in Project Reviews, Risk assessments, etc. as applicable for the project from time to time
    • Visit project facilities, and Client existing facilities during various phases of the Project

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science in Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering
    • Minimum industrial experience: 12 years
    • Experience in similar position: 5 years
    • Leadership and Team Building Skills
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience in PMC / EPC organizations in the field of Refinery / Petrochemicals industries in handling construction work of major projects of value not less than US $ 500 million each
