    Wood Plc,Intelligent operations team, Automation and Control is looking for an innovative and solutions-oriented Software Developer with a Chemical Engineering or Flow Assurance background and focus area.  You will find a challenging and rewarding work environment with unlimited growth potential! The candidate will demonstrate the ability to maintain, modify and test changes to existing software programs and products as well as develop or contribute to new modules or functionality in the existing software.


    As a member of Intelligent Software Solutions Group, the primary duty is to provide innovative software products for the oil and gas industry.  The candidate for this position will be required to:

    • Use both software development and engineering knowledge to help drive the design and usability of our software products
    • Improve and enhance our current software suite by focusing on either:
      • User interface improvements and enhancements for an improved user experience
      • Backend development including core architecture for continuous improvement
    • Maintain existing codebases and technologies and developing or maintaining unit tests to ensure code is bug free and backward compatible
    • Support and troubleshooting requests from internal and external users
    • Liaise with internal development teams and end users to ensure development is in line with the broader company goals and features requests are appropriately prioritized and resolved


    Skills / Qualifications

    The following is a list of requirements that the candidate must meet for consideration:

    • A Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a suitable engineering discipline (e.g. Chemical or Mechanical, but others are not disqualified) with 2-5 years’ experience in software development:
      • If background is in Computer Science or IT, the candidate must be willing to learn and apply an understanding of the physics and chemistry in oil & gas systems.
      • If background is in engineering, the candidate must be willing to develop further understanding of computer programming and software development practices
    • Demonstrated experience analyzing and solving design and/or programming challenges
    • Proven ability to quickly and effectively learn new technologies or concepts
    • Desire to own and be responsible for their own work
    • Able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and textually



    The following is a list of qualities that are not required but may be useful to have:

    • Familiarity with .NET’s languages and idiomatic development practices
    • Familiarity with desktop development for Windows especially using Win Forms and WPF
    • Knowledge of Visual Basic and COM/DCOM
    • Experience with FORTRAN
    • Can manage a Windows system (either desktop or server)
    • Understanding of Fluid Mechanics / Thermodynamics / Process Engineering concepts

      • TCP/IP communication, DNS

      • Source control systems, objected oriented paradigm, functional paradigm, MVVM/MVC GUI development
    • Simulation development
      • C#, FORTRAN, object oriented simulation, Python and other mathematics oriented languages
    • Web
      • Experience developing in a web environment and using web technologies
    • Cloud
      • Experience developing and deploying applications in Cloud environments

    Additional Info:


    • Location: Chennai, India
    • Travel: Travel to London and Houston may be required from time to time to align with core team
