  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently recruiting for Welding Inspectors for forthcoming positions in the following locations:



    Czech Republic





    The Netherlands





    • Provide detailed reports based on the activities that occurred onsite within 24 hrs
    • Raise non-conformance reports, punchlists or release notes on Client’s request
    • Experience in weld monitoring welding parameters including purge monitors and digital thermometers.
    • Working knowledge of basic quality requirements to conduct a piece-part inspection and final inspection.
    • Thorough understanding of SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW & SAW welding processes.
    • Understanding of stages of Weld Procedure qualification to BS EN ISO 15614 and ASME IX and their mechanical testing and associated Volumetric NDT.
    • Thorough understanding of Welder qualification to both BS EN ISO 9606 and ASME IX.
    • Experienced working within ISO 9001:2015 systems.
    • Thorough understanding of interpreting engineering drawing and geometric dimensions and tolerances
    • Must have a keen eye for detail, superb communication skills and a precise, meticulous approach.
    • Previous experience of Non Conformance Reporting Systems and / or Punchlists.
    • Experience in ensuring all aspects of production are carried out in accordance with client procedures relating to HSE and relevant quality Codes of Practice.
    • Ensure that safe working practices are adhered to at all times and general housekeeping is maintained to a high standard.
    • Reviewing that calibration check of all tooling and equipment relating to completing a quality product has been carried out correctly.
    • Review Work Order documentation is correct and completed to date before, during and on completion of the build process.
    • Review the verification and sign off process generated documentation related to the manufacture of client equipment, in order to ensure that all the planned and specified requirements have been satisfactorily undertaken.
    • To review product and process surveillance, including the liaison with manufacturing personnel to ensure that any problems identified and recorded are dealt with effectively.
    • To review rejection records related to product build problems.
    • Witnessing all required tests, highlighting any that have been missed
    • Reviewing Recorded, analysed and interpreted test data.
    • Reviewing the Qualification of the final installation or system
    • Carry out inspection of documentation ensuring it meets customer requirements
    • Review test results and configuration sheets ensuring product meets specifications as documented. Report back on any Non-Conformance quality issues



    Skills / Qualifications

    • The ideal candidate must be apprentice trained as Welder/plater, fabricator or must have formal qualifications in relevant discipline
    • Previous hands-on practical inspection experience using standard inspection tools is essential
    • Must be available to undertake competency validation assessment
    • Computer literate
    • Fluent in English; written, reading and spoken
    • CSWIP 3.2 preferred but will consider CSWIP 3.1 with relevant appropriate hands on experience.
    • Relevant Radiographic interpretation experience backed up with valid certification. CSWIP or PCN.
    • Up to date knowledge of standards, directives and legislations incl. ASME, AWS, BS, etc
    • The ability to read engineering drawing is essential and fully understanding BS EN 2553:2014-Welding Symbols
