    Wood is currently recruiting for a Procurement Specialist (Senior Buyer) to join our growing Environment & Infrastructure (E&IS) business in our Birmingham office. 


    As our workload and scope of delivery increases we continue to seek ways of utilising our supply chain to effectively supplement our own in-house skills and therefore require a person responsible for effective management of these suppliers.     Role Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will have ownership of pre and post-order purchasing activity from preparing procurement strategy plans, quotation summaries and pricing negotiations through to performance evaluation & supplier relationship management all in accordance with the Company’s guidelines.


    You will be expected to: 

    • Implement and manage a Supply Chain Management System suitable for our consultancy business
    • Work with the Supply Chain manager to develop the supplier database that delivers best value to Wood and its customers.
    • Support in ensuring that suppliers comply with Wood's Business & Supply Chain Codes of Conduct alongside Wood procedures, project and framework specific requirements
    • Lead project procurement execution through the whole project lifecycle
    • Deliver the best combination of quality, price, and delivery to our customers by working to add value in a socially responsible and ethical manner
    • Co-ordinate and analyse tenders, clarify outstanding queries and produce commercial bid summaries
    • Demonstrate proven ability to prepare negotiation strategies / techniques and lead negotiations
    • Prepare and issue PO recommendations where appropriate
    • Prepare and issue POs / sub-contracts where appropriate
    • Monitor, measure, and analyse suppliers and their performance to ensure continual improvement of quality and value of the goods and services delivered and ownership of corrective action when necessary
    • Liaise with all necessary disciplines to ensure effective interface between engineering, suppliers and customers.
    • Maintain systems to assist bid teams with compilation and selection of appropriate suppliers and bid writing
    • Work with our operational business to identify new and manage existing suppliers

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Significant procurement experience in a relevant industry
    • Degree Qualified – (Engineering / Business discipline desirable)
    • Full member of Chartered Institute of Purchase & Supply (MCIPS preferred)
    • Experienced in Supply Chain Management in a consultancy / professional services business (Desirable)
    • Experienced in tender / work winning procurement & bid writing
    • Demonstrate commercial knowledge and possess a thorough understanding of procurement processes and its application within the consultancy business environment
    • Strong co-ordination, interpersonal and negotiation skills
    • Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate and present data in a clear and concise manner to both internal & external stakeholders across senior levels
    • Ability to develop relationships with cross functional teams, suppliers and customers
    • Flexible approach and able to work under pressure with a can-do attitude
    • Prepared to travel on occasion (UK) 
    • Proficient in the use of MS Office® software
