  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently recruiting for a Measurement Engineer based in the Clean Energy offices in Glasgow. 


    The principle responsibilities of this post include:

    • On and offshore meteorological (met) mast, data logger and instrumentation installation, commissioning and operations & maintenance.
    • On and offshore remote sensing equipment deployment and maintenance.
    • Data recovery, screening and reporting.
    • Power performance testing equipment installation and commissioning.
    • Meteorological equipment pre-assembly, testing and maintenance.
    • Project management duties, including:
    • Proposal and report writing.
    • Production of safe systems of work documentation.
    • Equipment specification and procurement.
    • Liaising with Client.

    Skills / Qualifications




    • Educated to degree level in engineering or another relevant technical subject or have sufficient skills and
      knowledge through direct industry experience. An electrical bias is preferred.
    • Experience in an engineering or other relevant role or a minimum of a year working in an
      engineering consultancy specialising in renewable energy projects.
    • Comfortable working in remote outdoor locations, offshore and at height.
    • Comfortable travelling and working outside of the UK.
    • Hands on experience working on basic electrical equipment.
    • Competent user of Microsoft software packages (specifically Word, Excel and Project).
    • Competent in reading and understanding standards, specifications and electrical & mechanical drawings.
    • Reliable and good organisational skills.
    • Excellent communication skills both written and oral, coupled with a flexible and proactive approach to work.
    • Valid Driving Licence for use within UK.



    • Previous experience with wind monitoring equipment, specifically met masts.
    • Experience working at height.
    • Holder of current GWO certification for working at height, first aid, manual handling, fire awareness and offshore survival.
    • Experience of working in an offshore environment and/or at height.
    • Programming experience (in excel, VBA, for dataloggers).
    • Experience/knowledge in testing/troubleshooting meteorological or other electronic equipment.
    • Experience of working with remote data recovery software and hardware.
