    ITER is a unique, first of a kind project that aims to demonstrate the technical and scientific feasibility of fusion energy.


    WOOD one of three partners making up the Consortium MOMENTUM (construction management-as-agent contractor) is project managing the construction and assembly of more than one million components in world’s largest fusion reactor.

    As construction management-as-agent contractor, MOMENTUM is managing the construction and assembly of the first full-scale test reactor to include balance of plant and the Tokomak itself. Join us and play a part in the international effort to make fusion a viable source of almost limitless, carbon-free energy.


    Wood is recruiting for a 2 Junior Mechanical & Piping Engineers  with 3 to 7 years of experience to work on the ITER Project near Aix-en-Provence, France. 

    He/She will be responsible for:

    • Expert for the CMA in all Mechanical Construction Preparation matters
    • Takes direction from and interacts directly with the CMA CWP Preparation Manager, and reports functionally to the CMA Construction Preparation Manager
    • Preparation of Construction Work Packages, and update documentation (verify completeness) related to Engineering Work Packages and CWPs and review compliance and consistency from Mechanical perspective. Participate and contribute to Constructability reviews.
    • Assist IO with the tender process for construction contractors, provide Tender support for Mechanical content, including Prequalification Technical Requirements, Tender Technical Specification and engineering documents review, assist in compilation of sample Tender CWP packages, support for responses to bidders queries, tender evaluation. This aspect of the role is anticipated to be concluded by 2019.
    • Assess the Installation Work Packages issued by the contractors, including for the review of compliance of the IWPs against procedures, governance, regulation and completions requirements from Mechanical perspective. Participate and contribute to Construction Readiness Reviews.
    • Form strong relationships with the IO client and CMA teams
    • Focus on safety, delivery, value for money and value creation activities

    Please note the job offer would be based on a local French contract – this would not be an expatriate assignment.

    Skills / Qualifications

    Specific Skills:

    • Knowledge and use of Mechanical associated International Codes and Standards
    • Mechanical design, construction preparation, construction support and/or commissioning experience on a major international project or first-of-a-kind project environment
    • Experienced in large static pressure and vacuum vessel design, liquefied gas package plant / compressor package, or rotating equipment design and construction support
    • Experienced in review and preparation of tender package technical documentation, experienced in appraisal of submitted tender technical content, and preparation of tender appraisal reports.
    • Fluent in English, with additional French an advantage.
    • Work experience internationally or in multi-cultural environments, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and creative solution and problem solving skills.
