  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently recruiting for a HSSE Advisor to be based in the Staines office.

     

    Working within the HSSEA Function, the HSSEA Advisor is the first point of contact and shall ensure effective implementation of HSSEA aspects across their responsible offices; assuring that compliance is achieved, trends and improvements are addressed and that requirements pertaining to the deployment and certification of HSSEA management systems are maintained. Consistently applying our company values of Care, Courage and Commitment, the successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, a can-do attitude, be adaptable to change and have the confidence and ability to independently drive HSSEA assurance and performance across all levels of the organisation. The role requires someone who is flexible and available to occasionally work away from home.

     

    With the support of the HSSEA Managers, you will:

    • Be the focal point for all HSSEA related aspects across multiple locations
    • Provide support and advice to all internal and external stakeholders
    • Support development and delivery of policies, objectives, standards and procedures
    • Conduct, review and maintain sufficient risk assessments applicable to the scope of work
    • Provide training and manage effective methods of consultation and communication
    • Maintain documentation, systems, equipment, records and certifications to meet corporate and legal requirements
    • Conduct workplace inspections and audit compliance to HSSEA requirements
    • Report and investigate incidents and ensure sharing of lessons learned
    • Track progress of HSSEA corrective and preventative actions
    • Monitor performance and analyse statistical data
    • Develop improvement initiatives as required
    • Provide information for management meeting and reports
    • Monitor and implement updates in legislation and best practice; and
    • Support the HSSEA Managers on all duties required by the HSSEA function

    Skills / Qualifications

    Qualifications & Memberships:

    • Nebosh Certificate (or equivalent) in Occupational Health and Safety (actively working towards as a minimum).
    • Nebosh Certificate (or equivalent) in Environmental Management (desirable).
    • ISO 14001 / 18001 Lead Auditor (desirable)
    • Tech IOSH status (or actively working towards)

    Job specific experience:

    • Experience of working in a certified HSSEA Management system environment
    • Experience within the Oil and Gas industry (desirable)
    • Experience in a similar role

    Skills:

    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office, specifically Excel
    • Excellent interaction, communication, and influencial skills
    • Excellent planning and organisational skills
    • Willingness and ability to support and adapt quickly to industry and organisational change
    • Confident self-starter who can work independently as well as part of a team
    • Knowledge of HSSEA standards and legal requirements
