  • Overview / Responsibilities

     Wood is currently recruiting for a Technical Author with extensive experience in the Sellafield and Nuclear industry.

     

    Role:

    • To be part of the team to support the PES / ICT teams in producing O&M documentation for projects on the Sellafield site
    • This person must be capable of working without direct supervision and have the ability to translate a client requirement into a meaningful engineering solution. Good communication skills are essential.

     

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Ideally the candidate will have experience with Technical Reports used to substantiate Nuclear Facilities
    • Proven Technical Author experience
    • Experience of working to support clients in highly regulated industries
    • Have proficient language skills to permit editing of technical documents, although particular emphasis will be placed on eliminating grammatical and spelling errors
    • Provision of specified services to internal/external customers to agreed standards
    • To carry out designated work packages within defined projects to standards of safety, cost, quality and time
    • Use of MS Word and associated MS Office packages
    • Strong awareness of client personnel, requirements, standards, procedures and expectations within field of expertise
    • Where appropriate, contribute to the development of budgetary procedures, specifications and safety documentation
    • Compliance with all legislative, regulatory and company policy, standards and procedures e.g. safety, quality, risk, security etc. applicable to the role
    • Experience and a high standard of application of engineering to provide solutions to unique challenges in the engineering fields associated with nuclear and related systems
    • Appreciation of engineering standards, materials and equipment, and engineering developments, including manufacturing and construction issues, within areas of expertise
    • Proven track record, demonstrating the ability to produce, check and deliver engineering requirements
    • Familiar with DM Desktop and Cimage, Registration of Drawings/Documents and Sellafield procedures
    • Experience in the nuclear industry would be preferred and to work on client premises as required

    Skills / Qualifications

    Preferential Experience:

    • Experience working in a Technical Author type of role.
    • Familiar with Sellafield project delivery procedures.
    • Currently BS or SC security cleared.
