    Wood is currently recruiting for a Contaminated Land / Geoenvironmental Senior Consultant or Principal Consultant to join and contribute to our successful and expanding remediation and ground engineering team in Leeds.  We are seeking to grow our world class team to ensure we continue to deliver the high calibre of service and technical excellence both we and our clients expect. 

     

    We have an opportunity for a Contaminated Land / Geoenvironmental professional supporting our broad range of public and private sector clients on a variety of projects, within the UK, Europe and globally.  Key requirements include technical knowledge and robustness, flexibility and the desire to continue improving performance in all aspects of your role.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Management and delivery of land contamination assessment and remediation projects for a range of clients and land uses. Responsibilities will include delivery of desk studies, site investigations, risk assessments, remediation options appraisals, remedial design, implementation and verification.
    • Preparation of proposals by understanding clients’ requirements, identification of scope and definition of level of effort needed for successful delivery.
    • Data management, interpretation and assessment to identify potential risks and constraints to any future development, including reviewing work undertaken by others.
    • Undertake site visits, including technical and HSSE audits and assurance.
    • Ensuring high technical quality across the project team and seeking opportunities for innovation.
    • Team development including, line management, mentoring and training junior staff.
    • Maintaining and developing relationships with key clients, including attending meetings.
    • Ensuring that all work is delivered in line with procedures and processes and to the highest safety, health and environmental standards, to budget and programme.

    Skills / Qualifications

    Qualifications

     

    • Demonstrable experience in a similar role.
    • Relevant technical degree e.g. chemistry, engineering, geology or environmental science.
    • A higher degree in contaminated land, hydrogeology, geotechnical engineering, or similar, is desirable.
    • Evidence of continuing professional development, including Chartership desirable (or working towards this).
    • A full UK driving licence is required.

    Experience

    • Experience of delivering assessment of land contamination within the UK regulatory framework with regard to current and future use of a site.
    • Proven ability to write high quality technical reports and manage this process.
    • Presenting, analysing and interpreting data.
    • Demonstrable project management experience, with NEC contract management experience desirable.

    Skills / Attributes

    • Communicate effectively, listen and engage, including communicating technical information effectively verbally and in writing both internally and externally.
    • Ability to act as point of contact for clients and delivering high levels of client care.
    • Ability to develop new business from existing and potential new clients.
    • Understanding of HSSE requirements, responsibilities and safe systems of work.
    • A proven track record in successful project delivery.
    • Managing financial performance of projects to achieve budget targets and maintain key performance indicators.
    • Experience in writing and reviewing bids, quotations etc.
    • Work in collaborative project teams to achieve results by effective communication, sharing of information etc.
    • Able to work with a range of specialist professionals to deliver multi-disciplinary projects.
    • Able to build rapport and relationships with peers to develop good working relationships with the wider team.
    • Flexibility and a willingness to travel throughout the UK.
