  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Estimator to form part of the Project Controls team based at our Perth CBD Office. Reporting to the Lead Estimator, the role will be responsible for supporting the estimating function across the business unit or within a specific contract and the provision of all aspects of estimating to WOOD project delivery teams and customers.

     

     

    • Provides all aspects of estimating support to WOOD project teams and clients ensuring that estimating systems, procedures and work practices are maintained in line with specific contract requirements
    • Ensures that all project cost estimates are documented and auditable and that the operations estimating norms and estimating data is maintained and issued in a controlled manner
    • May work within a deployed project context or as part of the central project controls team supporting the overall operation
    • Promotes the principles of fairness and equity in line with the company’s stated core value
    • Sets an example by modelling desired behaviours, including safety behaviours
    • Provides contribution to estimating processes across the company
    • Represents the project estimating function as required in internal reviews and in project status meetings with the client
    • Contributes to the implementation of project estimating best practices
    • Develops and issue to relevant parties for approval / comment the Basis of Estimate for each project or proposal cost estimate to be developed
    • Develops and maintain project cost estimates in accordance with the Basis of Estimate, including scope of work, man-hour and materials estimates and documented assumptions
    • Participates in internal and client cost estimate reviews, coordinate comments and obtain estimate sign-off approval from relevant parties
    • Produces and issue updates to project / proposal cost estimates in a controlled manner
    • Liaises with proposals, engineering, procurement, subcontract and construction functions to maintain awareness of the requirements and costs of labour, plant and equipment, materials, subcontracts to ensure these are accurately reflected in the estimating database
    • Ensures the corporate risk process is applied to project / proposal cost estimates as required.

    Skills / Qualifications

    • 5+ years estimating experience
    • Relevant degree or diploma or a trade background.
    • RICS, QS, AACE or similar qualifications are desirable.
    • Experience of working across EPC/EPCM projects.
    • Ideally have prior exp in Hydrocarbons industry – LNG Onshore / Offshore.
    • Experience with implementation of Bespoke estimating platforms
    • Proficiency with industry standard software including Microsoft suite
    • Preparation of bottom up and/or top down estimates.
    • Understanding of estimate classification classes.
    • Excellent communication skills.
