Wood is recruiting an Engineering Managing Consultant for our Nuclear business to be based at Sizewell B Power Station.
The role is responsible for maintaining existing and building new customer relationships, identifying opportunities, supporting the transition of opportunities into secured work through supporting the client in the development of their programmes as well as delivering work or acting as the responsible engineer across a range of tasks.
You will be joining an organisation that delivers integrated customer solutions that draw upon the global Wood skills base and our supply chain partners. Reporting to the Key Account Director, Generation Services, you will build on a strong business stream with an existing long-term customer to develop Wood Nuclear’s support in specific account areas and implement value-adding solutions to maximise the life of their current assets.
The Wood nuclear business supports customers in the energy generation, new build, decommissioning and defence sectors.
Our nuclear business has offices in Knutsford and Birchwood in Cheshire, Gloucester, Dorchester, Harwell, Glasgow, Newcastle, Bristol, Cumbria, Reading and London. We also have a strong international presence to support our growing operations in France, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, South Africa and Japan.
The Nuclear business provides engineering, consultancy, safety case support and project management to our customers’ operations within the nuclear sector as well as into non-nuclear sectors where our capabilities are transferrable. We have long term relationships with several major clients in the civil nuclear industries and opportunities to work across a variety of nuclear projects at all stages of the project life cycle.

About the role:
The Engineering Managing Consultant role is an excellent opportunity for an engineering manager or senior engineer/project manager, with account management experience and excellent client relationship management skills, to grow and develop as the scale of the project and role grows. In this role you will develop client requirements into valuable engineering solutions. This is a hybrid role enabling you to maintain the hands-on delivery of an engineering role, whilst also working at a strategic level to develop the scope of work and to proactively pre-empt customer issues and provide solutions. This role would suit an individual with the drive and ambition to develop their career to become a member of the New Nuclear and Generation Services Leadership Team.
