    Wood is recruiting an Engineering Managing Consultant for our Nuclear business to be based at Sizewell B Power Station.


    The role is responsible for maintaining existing and building new customer relationships, identifying opportunities, supporting the transition of opportunities into secured work through supporting the client in the development of their programmes as well as delivering work or acting as the responsible engineer across a range of tasks. 


    You will be joining an organisation that delivers integrated customer solutions that draw upon the global Wood skills base and our supply chain partners. Reporting to the Key Account Director, Generation Services, you will build on a strong business stream with an existing long-term customer to develop Wood Nuclear’s support in specific account areas and implement value-adding solutions to maximise the life of their current assets.

    About the role:


    The Engineering Managing Consultant role is an excellent opportunity for an engineering manager or senior engineer/project manager, with account management experience and excellent client relationship management skills, to grow and develop as the scale of the project and role grows. In this role you will develop client requirements into valuable engineering solutions. This is a hybrid role enabling you to maintain the hands-on delivery of an engineering role, whilst also working at a strategic level to develop the scope of work and to proactively pre-empt customer issues and provide solutions.  This role would suit an individual with the drive and ambition to develop their career to become a member of the New Nuclear and Generation Services Leadership Team.  


    Based in the customer’s offices at Sizewell B Power Station, with the potential for occasional travel to Wood offices, the main responsibilities include, in collaboration with the existing team:

    • Health and Safety leadership;
    • Building and maintaining strong customer relationships;
    • Identifying opportunities to solve/pre-empt customer challenges and needs;
    • Acting as an accessible and proactive customer interface that orchestrates and reaches back into Wood’s organisation to ensure rapid responses, suggestions and solutions are provided;
    • Working with the Key Account Director and customers at an operational and strategic level to understand the customers' short, medium- and long-term needs, align our plans and strategies to add value to the customer and play an active role in the customer environment;
    • Leading technical discussions with clients and associated business development activities;
    • Developing innovative solutions and value and efficiency measures to differentiate Wood’s offerings;
    • Technical delivery to ensure customer satisfaction and providing a conduit for delivery performance feedback.

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Strong relationship management and influencing skills, adaptable to different levels in the customer and Wood organisation;
    • Able to assimilate and use key information associated with Wood’s and the customer’s capability and services, processes and procedures for letting and delivering work, our interfacing and delivery arrangements;
    • Able to generate and communicate clear and simple solutions and drive/offer a quick response;
    • Recognised professional qualification and a member of an appropriate Institution;
    • Experience in one or several technical disciplines associated with Civil Nuclear Power Plant operation and management and hence a level of technical credibility;
    • Experience in the management and delivery of technical work;
    • Experience at /knowledge of Sizewell B helpful but not essential.
