    Wood’s Environment & Infrastructure Solutions UK team provides a wide range of environmental and engineering services to both the municipal and industrial markets covering all aspects of water, wastewater and solid waste management and treatment.


    As the demand for our expertise continues to grow, an opportunity has arisen for a Principal Civil Engineer to join our team based in London. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to play an important role in our growing team. We are looking for experience in the implementation of the design of waste infrastructure projects and to play a key role in delivering our increasing workload in this area. The successful candidate will be deployed in a large civil team delivering a Multimillion pound project for Waste Infrastructure in North of London.

     

    This position will perform a broad range of planning and design tasks for utilities design, including water and wastewater treatment, sewer diversions, water and sewerage networks and diversions, gas supply, drainage.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for a range of stimulating and challenging assignments including but not limited to:

    • Organising and managing site based investigations
    • Development of designs and the co-ordination of the multidisciplinary teams.
    • Lead civil engineering design calculation, experience in utilities design is required.
    • Engage and coordinate with Stakeholders as Thames Water, Cadent, UKPN,
    • Planning Authorities, Environmental Agency.
    • Preparation of technical reports at various project stages including feasibility, concept and detailed design
    • Preparation of contract documents
    • Co-ordination of the production of construction drawings in CAD
    • Working closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects
    • Providing input to proposals, work scope, work schedule and budgets
    • Liaison with the Client
    • Providing support to allow the project team in relation to the duties of Designer under CDM including the production of design risk assessments

    We are looking for enthusiastic engineers with a flexible approach and an ability to learn in a leading global consultancy. You will be highly numerate, have excellent communication skills, enjoy working in a collaborative environment and can apply your skills whilst working with a diverse range of clients and projects.

    • Knowledge in the development of technical solutions from concept selection through design development
    • You will be expected to work effectively within multidisciplinary design teams and demonstrate effective leadership of civil design
    • Significant experience in Industry

    An aptitude towards following will be advantageous:

    • Problem solving
    • Application of engineering principles
    • Design development
    • Computer aided design and modelling
    • Report writing

     

     

    Qualifications

    • BEng/MEng Civil Engineering is required. Full Member of Professional Institution (ICE). Chartered Member

    • Civil Engineering related work experience in a similar role is essential 

    • Utilities design experience is essential

    • Proficiency in AutoCAD is an advantage but not essential

    • Proficiency in Civil 3D an advantage but not essential

    • Proficiency in Revit is an advantage but not essential

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint is required

    • Experience in Microsoft Project an advantage but not essential

    • Easy to communicate and coordinate with Stakeholders (Environmental Agency, Planning Authorities, DNO…)
