  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Amec Foster Wheeler has an opportunity for a Safety Officer. There is an increased thrust to deliver our services for the growing Asian Market. As a result of this, Construction Department operation is expanding and evolving to manage the challenges of regional projects that continue to pose challenges in offering our services through a global talent pool. 

     

    • Familiarity with the Company, Client and International Certification systems (e.g. ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 systems) which are applicable for home and site offices implementation. Conduct / Assist department manager for the Job Safety Environment Analysis and Risk assessment for all working & practices at home offices
    • Fulfill the qualification, experiences and competency required by local regulatory agency to act as corporate HSE representative. Establish an effective HSE system in accordance to the legal and other requirements
    • Passionate and possess initiatives to solve HSE issues and able to work as a team. Good communication skills. Possess good judgement and ability to extract the related HSE policies and procedures required
    • Participate in maintain and update company health, safety and environment management systems. Plan and implement HSE programs with reference to leading, indicators, legal reference, standard and best practices
    • Communicate health, safety and environment action plans, concerns and decision to respective personnel. Responsible for all safety concerns of social / employee activities sponsored by Company
    • Provide safety training to new employee and employee who is assigned or changed to new duty and / or new work environment
    • Facilitate the submission and compliance to statutory licenses, permits, variances from appropriate government agencies. Ensure company maintain records required by HSE laws and procedures including internal / external auditing
    • Facilitate / Perform the inspection and maintenance of fire, electrical equipment, First Aid Kit during pre-deployment and during periodic inspection and identify corrective actions
    • Implement proactive measures to curb accident / incident / near miss, unsafe behaviours / conditions from recurrence though promotion, campaigns and training and reinforce good safety behaviour. Manage the HSE records (audit, inspection, meeting, incidents, etc.)
    • Participate HSE committees and ensure company HSE committee actions are compliance with local laws and regulations
    • Conduct incident investigation and submit reports according to legal and company requirements. Communicate incident reports and lessons learned; Facilitate the submission / coordination with government agencies to obtain nation HSE awards (e.g. Zero Accident, National Safety Award)
    • Develop the induction program and ensure all personnel attend the HSE induction program and related mandatory training; Compile and submit monthly HSE statistics and report
    • Develop and implement the emergency evacuation plan. Monitor fire drill performance, identify corrective action. Ensure all personnel, including contractors, are using appropriate personal protective equipment
    • Actively engage with HSE Management team and Ensure all regulation and awareness safety posing and signage are in compliance and current
    • Installation of safety signs, traffic control signs and other safety promotion posters to remind workers to work safely and enhance safety awareness

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Bachelor degree in Occupational Health and Safety and certified as a safety officer at professional level
    • At least 10 years’ of experience in occupational health and safety including environment in the multi-national company
    • Safety Training Certificate issued by authorized government agency
    • Has an experience in Safety of High rise building is the must advantage
    • Good Knowledge of ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001 implementation, maintaining and auditing
    • Familiar with Microsoft Office Applications; MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Good command in English and computer literacy
    • Good interpersonal skill

    Please note this is a 1 year contract role open to Malaysians
