    Wood is currently recruiting an Innovation Manager to join the Digital & Technology function in the UK.

     

    We are living in advanced times where technology is rapidly evolving. It’s changing the way we live, the way we interact and the way we think. The CoLab – Client Innovation Manager will work at the cutting edge of this change and help Wood achieve the impossible.

     

    The Innovation Manager will drive a consistent approach on innovation and art of the possible and will facilitate workshop session with each of our clients, with input and participation from all stakeholders. In addition, the candidate will be globally responsible for providing facilitation of activities from within Woods CoLab innovation hubs in a co-ordinated manner ensuring that personnel in each location are trained in workshop creation and facilitation.

     

    The Innovation Manager will be required to spend 1-2 weeks per month in our first Houston hub for the first 6 months.

     

    Main responsibilities:

    • Plan and prepare team workshops to engage stakeholders and clients in the art of the possible.
    • Conduct pre-session research with CoLab stakeholders (Strategy & Development, Business Partner/Engagement Lead, Emerging Solns, Innovation) to focus on specific outcomes from workshops directly aligned with client requirements
    • Lead design activities including collaborative design/workshops, design research, rapid prototyping and product and service design
    • Source training providers for CoLab personnel within Design Thinking/ Agile Facilitation in CoLab locations. The preferred option is that the candidate can provide in person training to internal cohorts including training material; provide mentoring as required.
    • Training can be sourced externally initially but it is expected that training of internal cohorts will be coordinated through the candidate. Over time training to be provided directly by the candidates in the specific areas above
    • Support development of Wood CoLab playbook to include operational requirements within hubs
    • Technical knowledge of the innovation and business creation process, landscape, and market for technology in a discipline related to oil and gas, infrastructure, mining and manufacturing is an advantage
    • Experience with firms and projects closely related to oil and gas, infrastructure, mining and manufacturing is an advantage
    • Ability to work and communicate with a technical project team and to contribute to the management of the project toward commercialization
    • History of excellent executive and facilitation skills that are translatable to practical lessons and advice for innovators and entrepreneurs
    • Skilled at managing multiple, concurrent projects, meeting deadlines, and attention to detail required
    • Support seed funding and external grant development of research proposals around innovation

     

    Skills / Qualifications

    The Client Innovation Manager is an active, ambitious person with proven facilitation skills and experience in planning and conducting workshops that help teams and clients build a shared understanding of a problem and work collaboratively to define a solution.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Strong experience in a consultancy role and experience working within innovation facilitation
    • Strong business acumen; strategic thinking; oral and written communication skills
    • Well established industry reputation

    Knowledge, skills and experience:

    • Ability to deploy various methodologies to lead and run problem solving, brain storming, design-thinking and co-creation workshops, lead focus groups and design propositions and solutions
    • Have excellent communication skills, actively listen to client needs, and translate this feedback back to product to develop high value solutions
    • Ability to work cross functionally to drive outcomes that benefit our demand clients
    • Team player with a solution focused mentality
    • Ability to train, coach and mentor teams
