  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently recruiting for a Privacy Manager who's main focus will be supporting the Privacy Team and wider Ethics and Compliance Team to deliver high quality, commercially appropriate and cost-effective privacy compliance services across all Wood’s businesses. In particular, through proactive management of training and DPA initiatives, reliable reporting, energetic response to business needs and requests and support of other team members’ and their initiatives, the roleholder will assist Wood to achieve privacy compliance, manage privacy risks and realise its data privacy and protection strategy. The Privacy Team works to achieve a global compliance culture where data privacy compliance is recognised and embedded.


    • Support the Data Protection Officer (DPO) in implementing and embedding the privacy programme through its life cycle into business as usual activities
    • Support the DPO in assurance and audit activities including taking agreed actions to achieve closure of Privacy Team actions.
    • Independently or as appropriate work with external advisers or maintain and update appropriate privacy regulatory registrations ensuring appropriate registration records are obtained and maintained within appropriate agreed timelines
    • At a senior level advise and support business functions by providing knowledge of global privacy especially in business as usual operations and contract negotiations with customer and vendors
    • Oversee and monitor the privacy mailbox and ensure prompt acknowledgement of queries and, in consultation with DPO, appropriate allocation to Privacy Team members
    • Use external networks to drive improvements and grow best privacy practise at Wood
    • Support the DPO in relation to data incidents including incident analysis, investigations and writing reports 
    • Review and at a senior level lead and advise the Data Protection Ambassador network by developing and taking forward an engagement programme designed to increase DPA knowledge and engagement, maintaining records of DPAs, designing and ensuring provision of training programmes and keeping network alive with appropriate communications and news.
    • Assist in completion of Data Protection Impact Assessments ready for DPO sign-off.
    • Draft regular updates to EVP HSSEA & EVP P&O on the Wood Data Protection/Privacy Programme including progress against plan, BCR status and current trends.
    • Be responsible for collating and creating reports on Article 39 results and other GDPR and privacy law metrics as required
    • Manage and lead an effective transition of Subject Access Requests and the processes related to their efficient delivery to the P&O People Operations Manager. Provide data protection expertise to the P&O Shared Service and other teams.
    • Support the DPO in designing a training strategy which includes a global training programme, provision and delivery of and engagement of others in provision of appropriate training, liaison with other groups to leverage existing and planned training and ensures all
    •  Assist DPO in devising and implementing appropriate approaches to privacy laws across Wood’s operations. This could include leading projects, collaborating with other teams and designing, drafting and implementing policies, practises and procedures to ensure global privacy compliance.
    • Assist with policy and process drafting and development and reviews to ensure privacy compliance across business
    • Where requested assist with initiatives across the wider Ethics and Compliance team
    • Lead by personal example and encourage all employees to conduct their activities in accordance with all applicable laws and the group’s standards and policies 
    • Assist with preparation of presentations and other materials to senior leadership and other stakeholders  Assist with team activities as appropriate and required

    Skills / Qualifications

    • University qualified preferably with a privacy qualification such as CIPP
    • Experience working in the UK privacy sector preferably in relation to workers’ privacy issues including subject access rights and incident investigation and report
    • Sound knowledge of privacy law and practice especially the General Data Protection Regulation
    • Able to develop powerpoint presentations and excel spreadsheets
    • Strong written and communication skills
    • Able to work independently
    • Attention to detail
