Wood is currently recruiting for an Start Up Commissioning Engineer on a 5x3 rotational basis for the ExxonMobil project located in Iraq.
The contract is for 1 year, renewable annually based on business needs.
JOB PURPOSE:
- To carry out designated startup duties associated with the safe, efficient and environmentally sound startup and operation of utilities, process systems & machinery in accordance with the approved procedures
- These duties include responding to emergency conditions, preparation of equipment for maintenance, housekeeping and proactive monitoring of the area and its equipment during the start up and early operations phase
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as Area Authority (AA) in the Work Management System when required
- Participate in process control system testing and safeguarding functional testing
- Perform initial valve line up in accordance with approved Start Up Work Packs
- Perform checks to ensure utilities systems are commissioned and available for use
- Perform machinery startup and shutdown in accordance with procedures
- Participate in Dynamic Commissioning activities, ensure synergy with start up sequence
- Operations of the unit are within safe operating limits
- Monitor all equipment in assigned area and perform basic care checks and report any equipment that requires maintenance attention
- Prepare equipment for maintenance and re-instate when complete. Complete isolations in accordance with Work Management System requirements
- Log start up operations information and submit daily progress logs
- Carry out shift handover in a detailed and comprehensive manner
- Deal with any out of specification material in accordance with procedures
- Monitor all work within the assigned area and work with commissioning, maintenance, project and other personnel to ensure the activities covered by the permit are undertaken in a safe manner
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within the operating area to ensure safe working conditions
- Participate in daily Tool Box Talks with Start Up Team on specific activity to be executed during the day
- Work directly with the local national operators to ensure the transfer of knowledge and technical advice during the initial period of operation, On the job training is being administered to develop the team
- Interface with DCS System Engineer and I & C Technicians, ensure 100% compliance to WQ1Temporary Defeat (MOS & OOS) Procedures
- Apply procedures to planned startup and shutdown and unplanned shutdown, perform procedure red lining when required
- Encourages and develops the requirement for the use of detailed unit-specific startup, shutdown and emergency response procedures
- Assists the effort to capture startup lessons learned
- Report all incidents, follow up to prevent re-occurrences, conduct regular workplace observations and field level hazard assessment audits

Reporting directly to the Welding Supervisor, this position will ensure approved welding procedures; methods and consumables are used by qualified personnel to ensure all quality requirements of construction and fabrication are met in accordance with appropriate procedures and international codes of practice, namely AS/NZS ISO 9001.
Responsibilities
- To conduct fit up and dimension tolerance settings for piping assemblies as per the approved welding procedure specification and Inspection and Test Plan (ITP)

Responsible for:

Overview
The Senior Construction Engineer - Electrical & Instrument shall report to the Area Construction Superintendent and have overall responsible for a particular area of the worksite, although from time to time he shall assist in other areas of work when required. The Senior Construction Engineer - Electrical & Instrument may stand-in for the Area Construction Superintendent when they are absent from site. He will ensure the that duties on specific areas/units, are aligned both internally within IPMT and externally with the Contractor to progress and support site activities. The Senior Construction Engineer - Electrical & Instrument shall routinely interface with the Contractor’s Construction Staff.
Responsibilities
- Understands application of the current project methodologies and EPC Contractor execution strategies
- Communicating the Project safety standards, site rules and regulations as captured in the PMC and EPC Contractor’s HSSE plans to all personnel
- Monitor and enforce the adherence to the site standards, rules and regulations
- Ensuring overall construction is executed in accordance within applicable specifications, drawings, codes and standards and to the requirements of the Contract

Wood is currently recruiting for a Process Designer on a contract basis for our Mining & Minerals office in Bryanston.
Wood has been awarded the EPCM contract for the Vulcan Process for Aroxo (a Tharisa Minerals Company). The Arxo Vulcan Project is a 500 t / h Fine Chrome Recovery Plant located nearly 35 km east of Rustenburg, South Africa. Tharisa’s Vision 2020 projects are targeting an increase in Tharisa Minerals’ production to 200 kozpa of PGMs and 2.0 Mtpa of chrome concentrates in CY2020, on an annualized basis. To achieve this vision, the R&D team has developed the Vulcan process to extract the fine chrome from current in line tailings from the combined feed of the Genesis and Voyager plants. The primary aim of the Vulcan plant is to increase chrome recovery from the current 65% to 82% at the Tharisa Mine, capable of adding an additional 400 ktpa (ca. 28% of current production) of chrome concentrate output.
Main Purpose of the Role:
- To produce project related BFD, PFDs and P&IDs from marked - up diagrams and process instructions.
- Diagrams and schedules completed to agreed time schedule and manhour budgets.
- Adherence to applicable standards and procedures.
- Completion of error free diagrams to good drafting practices.
- Complete all administrational functions related to function.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

Ensure that the WGPSN management system is adhered to and that all services and products are fabricated and inspected in compliance with client, industry and project requirements.
To manage and ensure the timely planning and execution of all required fabrication E/I quality control activities.
To ensure that Fabricator employs competent and authorised inspection personnel and inspection activities are completed in accordance to approved inspection requirements.
To ensure that all inspections are carried out by authorised inspection personnel and all inspection works are completed in accordance to approved inspection plans, approved contractor documentation or specified requirements.
Principal Responsibilities:
Co-ordinate E&I quality/inspection requirements from project start-up through to handover of certification dossiers;
Support the timely approval of Inspection and Test Plans;
Oversee quality requirements at selected/approved E&I contractors;
Inspection of incoming materials and review of material certification dossiers prior to installation;
Review and approval of quality certification including MRB ongoing reviews;
Report any inspection deficiencies to the Quality Coordinator;
Report ITP status to contract management teams at regular progress updates;
Assist with auditing of E&I fabrication activities;
Ensure that all relevant industry Codes, Standards and Regulations are met and that project standards, specifications are adhered to;
Perform conformance reviews and advise Construction/Contractor of corrective actions and/or assist them in the resolution & closing of any NCRs.
Final Inspection, walk downs, punch listing and issue of IRN for systems, sub-systems and assemblies;
Attend Construction/Contractor progress meetings and other meetings as required;

Promote the awareness of quality principles and concepts, promoting the review and challenge of working practices and methods to enhance performance;
Maintain reject register and ensure close out of actions;
Assist in reviewing quarantine areas within warehouse for goods inward receipt inspection;

Your first study for 2020 will be the pre-feasibility study of a flotation concentrator on a copper gold Porphyry project for one of our valued clients. As such, experience in copper gold concentrators and associated mine infrastructure and/or South American mining projects would be beneficial, but not essential.
In this highly visible position as a leading Senior Study Manager at Wood you will:
- Manage, execute and deliver best practice systems and processes in designated studies, projects and consulting services, in alignment with Wood’s objectives and client requirements.
- Be the primary point of contact for all communications with clients relating to designated studies and consulting services.
- Ensure the team maintains a leading-edge technical capability through the development of designs, industry contacts, new technologies and innovative practices
- Develop innovative engineering solutions to complex technical problems for a wide range of commodities
- Provide technical guidance and advice to other functional departments and the wider organisation as required
- Ensure designs meet required safety standards and actively participate in HAZOP studies and design reviews
- Proactively assist in identifying business opportunities and develop new and existing client relationships
