Wood is currently recruiting for Senior Construction Engineer - Mechanical for one of its ADNOC Onshore oil and gas projects in UAE.
The successful candidate will be based at site on a residential basis to work 50hrs / 5 days per week with 2 days off.
Successful candidate should be able to peform the below duties and responsibilities;
- Monitor the Mechanical scope to ensure EW Contractor and sub-contractors perform the work to agreed scope of work, specifications, and schedules and to an acceptable standard
- Supervise the EW contractor and sub-contractor personnel to ensure EW contractor performs all work to agreed standards for safety, health and environment and to attaining high levels of HSE performance
- Ensure assigned scope of work is carried out without any significant HSE incidents
- Ensure the work is carried out in time and in accordance with scope of work, specification and quality requirement
- Responsible for construction mechanical activities through the contractors supervision in respect of HSE, method, working practices, quality and timely execution of the works
- To be fully familiar with the assigned scope of work and interlaces with existing facilities, other projects and disciplines
- To be fully familiar with the ADNOC Onshore and Contractor HSE requirements and procedures
- Ensure that construction hazards and risks are fully considered by designers and contractors and that appropriate mitigation actions are implemented and appropriate action taken
- To be fully familiar with the contractors methods of construction, schedule and procedure
- Initiate and manage the project continuous improvement processes
- Ensure contractor produces appropriate execution documents in a timely manner and monitor approval / compliance
- Monitors progress and performance of the construction contractor to ensure that he performs to the approved schedule, specification and standards
- Interface with other IPMT groups as required to ensure a good relationship for timely and effective release of Contractors data / drawings and resolution of problems
- Review look ahead schedules & ensure future work / discipline / interface issues are communicated and resolved
- Monitor site activities for potential contractual/claims problems Maintain records of site activities and check Contractor records for accuracy
- Carry out inspection, surveillance witnessing of contractor activities, ensuring records are maintained, including as-built data
- Prepare and / or endorse daily progress report and time sheets detailing the work progress, number of contractor personnel and equipment available on site and other related items identified in the scope of work

- Must have thorough knowledge of engineering practices and economic principles, calculation methods, design details, international codes and standards, procedures, and specifications
- Prepare and review engineering studies, design drawings and documents, and material and equipment specifications
- Coordinate with project Discipline and Lead Engineers to ensure correct implementation of the design for the engineering specialty and coordinate the work of engineers within the specialty
- Provide guidance to the project/ Design & Engineering work.
- Resolves Engineering issues by applying accepted principles, codes and standards.
- To provide and support engineering activities to a Mustang-HDP Conceptual / FEED / Detailed Design projects.
- Finalizing all discipline deliverables for assigned project/projects
- Approving (as the Lead Engineer) all discipline deliverables
- Planning, coordination & supervision of the production of Deliverables as well as overall coordination for preparation of Deliverables list for proposals.
- Planning and scheduling of discipline deliverables and activities including man-hour estimation when requested, requesting personnel as identified by the plan, and supervision of discipline personnel on the project/ Projects.
- Reviews the Basis of Design (BOD) & Project Execution Plan (PEP) as well as all Client provided data for assigned projects.
- Coordination with all disciplines (as necessary) in the preparation and development of the deliverables and ensuring those other disciplines’ inputs are incorporated for the assigned projects.
- Ensures the submission of all drawings requires IDC to the respective discipline/disciplines.
- Prepares enquiry requisitions in PDMC/Pacesetter.
- Evaluates bids & prepares technical bid evaluations & provides input to joint purchase recommendation.
- Prepares bid clarification questions and handles responses, and coordinates / chairs technical aspects of bid clarification meetings.
- Updates datasheets and specifications for purchase.
- Reviews all vendor data, solicits specific input from affected disciplines, and returns comments on ‘coded’ documents within the allocated timeframe.

Work Scope
- Execute assigned work in accordance with the applicable Project Procedures and Standards, including Wood plc and / or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control, within the man-hour and cost budgets and the project schedule targets
- Management of workload and budgets, responding to client requirements as they arise.
- Understand, review and comment on process design data to ensure appropriate equipment specification and selection.
- Prepare material requisitions for the defined package equipment
- Issue material requisitions to the Procurement Department for enquiry, order placement and for any subsequent revisions

TAR Planning Phase
- Provide input to the establishment of the Turnaround execution plan. Wood is currently recruiting for a Construction Director with Construction experience in refinery plants.
The Construction Director will represent Wood on-site at Socar Refinery to ensure the construction contractors’ activities comply with all aspects of Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSES) policy, site regulations, permit to work procedures and Client requirements.
The Construction Director shall:
- Be the primary contact with the PM for all Projects matters raised in field.
- Be responsible that the Construction is completed in time, within the established budget and safety and ensure that contractual obligations are fulfilled in time and to the complete satisfaction of the Owner.
- In connection with the Field Project Control Coordinator, review and approve the construction program and ensure that detail construction schedules are prepared for all areas and erection activities.
- In absence of Resident Project Manager in field discuss with Client all Project changes required and, where necessary, provide all information to Project Manager in order to define estimating cost, contract extras and constructions delay. In any case, will be informed of any matter concerned the Project.
- In connection with Resident Project Manager, Field Project Control Coordinator, review single progress report and construction overall progress report, budget and field construction activities in order to reach final goal as economically as possible.
- In absence of Resident Project Manager in field is entitled to issue correspondence to the Owner CM under his signature for subject related to Project matters raised in field.
- Receive and distribute to the field Engineering Coordinator, under his control, information from the Owner P.M.
- Expedite from the field Engineering Coordinator and from the other people assigned under his control all the information requested for a proper handling of Construction activities.
- Supervise invoice checking, accounting, etc. which should be followed for all activities involved.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The project engineer role may vary depending on the specific assignment undertaken but would typically involve the activities below:

Wood currently has an opportunity for a Senior Control and Instrumentation Engineer on a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of project work, in accordance with the Discipline Design Instructions, including Wood and/or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control, within the man-hour, cost budgets and the project schedule targets. The role will be for 6 months based in Staines.

- Review Vendors' quotations, prepare technical quotation evaluation and recommend the final technically acceptable Vendor, Technically approve Order Variation Summaries

- Assess progress and procedure associated reports and input to the DMS. Derive and suggest plans to recover slippage, correct inefficiency and to take any resulting agreed actions
- Advise the Chief / Principal Instrument Engineer of any major slippages and their causes, all policy matters, major technical problems and unresolved differences with other Groups, and requests for changes by the Client which may constitute a contract change
- Establish and maintain a filing system of project documents

Join our collaborative team, working side by side with a global specialist chemicals company on a new and innovative project in the growing Lithium resources market to design, engineer and construct a world class processing facility. We have a diverse range of opportunities within our Perth office and further positions in the South West.
The greenfield project targeted to go into production in 2020 will produce Lithium Hydroxide Monohydrate from a 3 train processing plant with a forecasted 60,000 per annum (Tpa) output. Further expansion plans into 2025 will see a total production of 100,000 tonnes per annum. The plant is to be constructed at the Kemerton Strategic Industrial Area approximately 160 km south of Perth, Western Australia and 17 km north-east of the thriving regional centre of Bunbury.
Position Specifics and Deliverables
- Ensure sufficient knowledge of project and related contract.
- Prepare and maintain planning schedule for specific project.
- Prepare structured cost breakdown for projects and studies.
- Establish baseline budgets for man-hours, capital and other appropriate costs.
- Prepare and maintain man hour costs, based on forecasts, trends and progress.
- Ensure man hours and related costs are recorded and coded correctly, including timesheet submissions to maintain availablitity of cash flow.
- Maintain Issues register, change orders and variations.
- Ensure change control process for studies and projects is in place and where required estimate the cost of the change.
- Maintain manpower plans and histograms as appropriate.
- Ensure project personnel authorization process is followed for billing purposes.
- The personnel acquisition approval form should be used in each instance.
- Liaise with procurement and contracts and provide budget allocations for packages of work.
- Prepare up to date cost reports showing approved budgets, commitments, expenditures, forecasts, paid to date and amount outstanding.
- Carry out man hour cost reports, review billing reports and carry out cash flows, as required by the project controls manager.
- Achieve and maintain correct authorisation for reimbursable expenditure.
- Contribute to building a cost conscious attitude throughout the project team.
- Achieve and maintain effective communication with Project Managers, Engineers, Contracts and Finance teams at all times.
- Awareness and identification of potential back charges from client.
- Liaison with Project Accountant/Commercial with regard to the contract/actual rates and associated data - the final responsibility for rates and all associated data rests with the Project Accountant.
- Carry out additional tasks as may be required from time to time by the Cost Control Manager or Supervisor.
- Prepare reports as directed including, Histograms, S-curves, KPI’s etc.
- Work to improve the company’s business processes in the areas of cost control to align with best practice.

Wood is currently recruiting for a Subcontracts Engineer (2 months ) with good experience in the subcontracting works in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.
The candidate is expected to perform project pre-award activities and post-award contract administration works, reporting directly with the Lead Subcontracts Engineer.
- Conduct of pre-contract and post-contract work activities in line with the established Corporate policies and procedures
- Provide support to the Lead Contracts Engineer in the preparation of contracting plans and strategies to meet the requirements of the project
- Development of contractors list, perform prequalification as necessary, and development of bidders list per contract package, if the Lead Contracts Engineer is not on-board yet
- Carry out pre-contract and post-contract activities
- Ensure completeness of Projects’ Construction Contracts records and co-ordinate statistical feedback and data gathering.
