In the UK this will result in one of the largest, most exciting and important engineering and scientific projects in the 21st century.
Wood is a leading supplier of scientific consultancy and engineering services to the UK and overseas radioactive waste management organisations. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated candidate to be a Consultant, to work on a diverse range of projects. The successful candidate will be expected to provide input to these desk-based assessments
- Inventory collation, review and enhancement ranging from detailed studies of specific waste streams to the analysis of large inventory datasets
- Working as part of a team to deliver a range of desk-based research projects to support the understanding of chemical aspects of radioactive waste disposal, from the behaviour of radionuclides in the repository and surrounding rocks/groundwater to the performance and long-term evolution of engineered barrier materials (cements, bentonite) and waste-forms.
- Option studies and related financial and strategic planning in support of geological disposal or alternative waste management routes such as treatment or near-surface disposal
- Support to knowledge management activities essential to the future management of waste at a geological disposal facility
